The PIAB allows developers to quickly implement many cross-cutting concerns. It also allows developers (and system administrators) to quickly change the rules followed by thing such as logging and exception handling without having to recompile and distribute code. Everything can be configured through a config file!
Ben will be doing a code heavy demonstration (C#) that will take an application with some logging and exception handling and turn it into an application that uses the PIAB to handle this for all parts of the code. He will also implement parameter validation (a form of code contracts).

Could your website be used to sell fake watches by email to thousands of people around the world? Could someone use your website to steal your users’ bank website credentials? Is it possible bypass your login page and become an admin on your website? Come see real examples of the problems that put your organization and users at risk, and learn how to detect and prevent them. Many good developers know the buzz words in [web] security without really understanding the meaning and impact each one can have. This misunderstanding prevents developers from detecting problems during code reviews, performing impact analysis when problems are discovered, and implementing preventions to close the holes. This leads to good developers writing code with serious problems that can potentially damage an organization’s data, reputation and trust with users, and ultimately the bottom line. Ben Floyd of Improving Enterprises will be presenting on · Common vulnerabilities such as SQLi, XSS, XSRF, redirect hijacking, etc · How these manifest as vulnerabilities in ASP.NET WebForms and MVC · The OWASP Top 10 List for 2010 · .NET tools, libraries, and techniques used to keep websites secure · Security basics such as defense in depth, whitelisting/blacklisting, and attack surface analysis · Resources for learning more
